Since the introduction of the first booq® bag, we have been accumulating laptop data to help creative professionals find the right bag for their laptop. In the booq tradition of excellent customer service, the all-new BagFinder strives to give an extremely high-quality bag recommendation for any laptop based on a refined combination of basic calculations. Please help us keep this tool up-to-date by submitting new laptops and corrected laptop information.

How does the BagFinder work?

The BagFinder compares a laptop's dimensions with the dimensions of each bag we offer, and issues a fit rating (see below). Results are displayed by bag category and sorted by rating. Bags that offer too much slack for our taste are not shown, unless no acceptable fit can be found in a particular category, in which case all bags in that category are shown, though with a warning that they are more than large enough for the laptop. The same laptop may exist more than once in the BagFinder, so make sure to view similar laptops. If your laptop does not exist, please add it to our database.

Duplicate Laptops and Laptop Maintenance

Our laptop database is a product of our own research and customer submissions, and the information contained is certainly not without errors. The BagFinder compares your selected laptop to existing laptops in the database, and will show duplicate laptops that have been viewed most often first. When you add a new laptop, the BagFinder will display similar laptops to discourage you from entering a perfect duplicate. If you believe that a particular laptop shows incorrect information, simply add a new laptop with the corrected information. Once "your" entry has more views, it will be displayed above its siblings. We are in the process of implementing a voting system, allowing you to approve or disapprove each laptop, boosting its rank.

Recommended Item Ratings

The more dots, the better the fit. The BagFinder compares the three laptop dimensions (Width, Depth and Height) with a bag's laptop compartment size, and knows whether a bag has been designed to hold a laptop in portrait or landscape format. Laptops are more likely to slide sideways than up and down. Aware of this basic fact, the largest "Width" dimension is most critical for landscape format bags, and the BagFinder knows to give additional weight to any slack in this dimension, while reducing the impact of any slack in the "Depth" dimension.

Further, we have assigned each bag an internal "flexibility" factor, specifying by how much a laptop compartment can flex. So if a laptop is slightly larger than the compartment in one dimension, but is smaller in another then the BagFinder knows that the bag can deform slightly to make up the difference. Therefore, the BagFinder may show bags for laptops that may be slightly too large in one of the three dimensions.
